Networking Meetings Unite Women Activists in Qamishli and Afrin to Advance Public Participation
As part of the “WYDE | Women’s Leadership” project implemented with the support of the European Union and in partnership with UN Women, in-person networking meetings were organized in the cities of Qamishli and Afrin, with the aim of creating and strengthening a network of activists supporting women’s issues, particularly those related to active participation in public life.
More than 60 activists from both regions took part in the meetings, where Qamishli and Afrin were connected via online communication technology with the participation of the project management. The sessions included working groups and open discussions that explored ideas and proposals for community activities the activists plan to implement, contributing to reducing the impact of social stigmas on women and enhancing their roles within society.
The atmosphere was characterized by a spirit of cooperation and support, which strengthened the sense of solidarity and complementarity among participants and reinforced the project’s goal of building a sustainable network capable of effective advocacy for women’s issues in Northeast and Northwest Syria.
