Political Empowerment of Women from Afrin to Qamishli: Launch of the “Watad” Project with Dar for Peace and Prosperity
Driven by a deep belief in the vital role women play in building just and balanced societies, the organization Dar for Peace and Prosperity has launched a new initiative titled “Watad”, aimed at promoting women’s political empowerment and challenging the societal stigma that hinders their participation in public life.
The project targets over 60 female activists from the cities of Afrin and Qamishli, offering them a series of specialized training sessions that blend theoretical knowledge with practical application. These sessions are led by experienced trainers, both local and international.
The training covers a wide range of essential topics, including transitional justice, conflict resolution mechanisms, dialogue and negotiation skills, community initiative leadership, political debate and marketing, advocacy, and context analysis.
Through this initiative, Watad seeks to cultivate a generation of women capable of making meaningful impact by strengthening their self-confidence and equipping them with the tools needed to take on active roles in driving change within their communities.
This activity was implemented within the framework of the WYDE | Women’s Leadership project, with the support of the European Union and in partnership with UN Women
